Rapture, first of all, is not a Roman Catholic terminology, but I regularly encounter this word, when I research the subject of the Second Coming of Christ. So, I want to discuss this end-time event to enlighten both the Roman Catholic brethren and the American evangelicals who are waiting for this event.
I have known what the Rapture is, through different readings, printed and the Internet, but for this discussion I only want to reference the article of Rapture in Wikipedia, so not to complicate the discussion, and the article in Wikipedia is sufficient enough for this written work.
Rapture originated from the Latin verb called rapio, which means “to catch up” or “take away”, and from the Greek verb – dictionary form, harpazō, which means “we shall be caught up” or “we shall be taken away”.
There is also a debate for when would the Rapture would occur. There are three end-time timing that are being debated for when would the Rapture be, and these three events are: Pre-tribulation Period, Mid-tribulation Period, and Post-tribulation Period; the Tribulation Period that is being referred to here is the Seven-year Tribulation Period.
To simplify the discussion, Rapture is the taking away of the believers before, during, or later on, in the tribulation period.
Basically, for me, this event that they coined Rapture, is simply a Divine Rescue.
In the article of Rapture in Wikipedia, there is also a list of people who had given wrong dates for their Rapture, they did not get it right because they have a wrong understanding about the end-times, and they strongly believed that this event they call Rapture is just a one-time event.
Our loving and merciful Heavenly Father, will cause a Divine Rescue multiple times during the peak of the Great Tribulation Period.
Remember that during a nuclear war, multiple nuclear weapons would be detonated in different populated cities; our loving and merciful God would “take away” believers, minutes or even seconds before a nuclear weapon explodes in their city. During a tsunami event, our God can “take away” believers before the tsunami inundates them, and they would be counted as “missing”, or whatever natural disaster that would come upon the faithful during the peak of the Great Tribulation Period, our merciful God can make a Divine Rescue anytime and anywhere He wants.
The mercifulness of our Heavenly Father cannot be confine to this word – that is called the Rapture.
It is also a wrong belief that there is a seven-year-tribulation period, it is a wrong supposition to add the three and a half years of Revelation 11 & the three and a half years of Revelation 12 and assume that there would be a seven-year hardcore tribulation period. Revelation 11 & 12 is not a contiguous event, there is a time gap between them, years actually; Revelation 11 has already happened… I will publish an article about this, after publishing the timetable…
